How has the world you come from shaped your dreams and aspirations? My family has always encouraged me to aspire and dream big. Both of my parents have never graduated from a four year university, but growing up they made it very clear that education is a top priority. This has encouraged me to always try my best in everything in life, not only just school. I’ve been taught that no dream is too unimaginable; all I have to do is work for it. My mother once backpacked Europe for six weeks by herself. She always told me how meaningful it is to her to see life outside of the bubble we tend to live in. She has inspired me to look beyond my small corner of the world, to work hard, and love people.

Of all the ways you could succeed in your life, why have you chosen to succeed in the Miss Auburn Pageant? The Miss Auburn Program isn’t like any program I have been involved with before. Unlike other pageantries, this organization truly has the contestants’ best interest at heart. The program provides critical interview, poise and etiquette skills, but most importantly it teaches young woman how to carry themselves with confidence and grace. The Miss America program develops young ladies with the ability to go out into the work force and be prepared for any professional aspect of their life, not many people have those skills at such an age. I chose to be a part of the Miss Auburn Program because I am serious about my future and hopeful for its success. With the skills I have developed, I plan to make a significant difference in the world around me and in the hearts of the people too.

What social issue, other than your platform, will have the greatest impact on your generation and why? Technology is an important and much needed part of my generation. I believe that although it does a lot of good, it also does a lot of harm. Most people can’t go anywhere without their cell phone, laptop, ipad, MP3 player, or whatever it may be. The problem is that instead of being aware of the people around us, we are sucked into our own little bubble. Our ability to communicate clearly is hindered because we are so use to doing it through a screen instead. Also, my generation’s addiction to technology has been a leading factor in childhood obesity, considering that an average of 1,680 minutes per week is spent watching television by children. It is sad to see that something that could be so helpful does so much damage.
